A crispy and sticky honey garlic tofu dish that is simple to prepare, perfect for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz extra-firm tofu (pressed and cubed)
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil (or other high-heat oil)
  • 1/3 cup honey (dark amber)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp toasted white sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 stalks green scallions (freshly chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu: Start by pressing the extra-firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into cubes and toss them in cornstarch until they are well coated.
  2. Air fry: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the fryer basket. Drizzle with avocado oil and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking until they are golden and crispy.
  3. The sauce: While the tofu is cooking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and rice vinegar.
  4. Finish: Once the tofu is crispy, remove it from the air fryer and toss it in the honey garlic sauce until well coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes in the air fryer to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.

Notes

Serve hot, garnished with toasted sesame seeds and freshly chopped scallions. Pairs well with steamed rice or quinoa.
