A customizable and flavorful steak bowl recipe, perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs flank or sirloin steak
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 4 cups cooked rice (or quinoa)
  • 1 cup corn salsa
  • 1 cup black beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 1 avocado (sliced or diced)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, and chili powder in a medium bowl.
  2. Place the steak in a shallow dish or a zip-top bag and pour the marinade over it. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature.
  3. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  4. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  5. Assemble by dividing the rice among four bowls, topping with sliced steak, corn salsa, black beans, avocado, and cherry tomatoes. Serve immediately.

Notes

For better flavor, marinate the steak longer if possible. Adjust toppings based on personal preferences.
