Ingredients

Scale
  • 2–3 pounds tri-tip roast
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, black pepper, salt, paprika, and thyme.
  2. Place the tri-tip roast in a resealable plastic bag or a dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  4. Remove the tri-tip from the marinade and place it in a roasting pan.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes for medium rare, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C).
  6. Remove from the oven, cover with foil, and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Slice the tri-tip against the grain for the most tender pieces. Excellent served with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or salad.
